Oh my, Colonial Heights finally got a great local restaurant in the old Gene's BBQ next to the Bowling alley. We had the BBQ platters and I had a New York Strip. It was so juicy and tender. The flavor was spot on and everyone wanted a piece. The BBQ was just insane. We were all shocked that it had a fresh taste and was tender and juicy (not greasy) The potato salad was passed around as was the cole slaw. It was so very good. They make the tea fresh in house and you could tell. My mother got desert and that's where they get bonus points. She asked the waiter if he could heat it up and he gave her the royal treatment and was so gracious. It takes a lot for my mother to be amazed on that level. Give this place a chance they are reasonably priced and have great dishes. Do not miss out on the BBQ platter. I have to go back now to try other items. The other local joints had better sit up because if this group starts catering they will own the town.
